White Blank Page Books

I'm a 22 year old girl from the UK who loves to read when the rest of life isn't getting in the way..
Lick - Kylie Scott

Series: Stage Dive (book 1)

Summary as taken from book:

Evelyn Thomas's plans for celebrating her twenty first birthday in Las vegas were big. Huge. She sure never meant to wake up on the bathroom floor with a hangover to rival the black plague, a very attractive half-nakes tattooed man in her room, and a diamond on her finger large enough to scare King Kong. Now if she could just remember how it all happened.

One thing is certain: being married to one of the hottest rock stars on the planet is sure to be a wild ride.

My review:

Firstly, I went into this book not expecting too much if I'm honest, it sounded like a fun, quick read, which it was, but it was also much much more. The characters were, for a lack of a better word, charming.

Evelyn is a strong character who is very much driven by her emotions, and her emotions become very much entangled in David's own. She grew up being the unpopular kid, the one people made fun of, so to find herself suddenly with the attention of a hot rock star it's easy to see how she finds herself awestruck and wanting to run. I love that she's got her own insecurities, but she doesn't let them get her down, she just accepts them and moves on. She just seems a very real character, someone you'd easily imagine running into down the street, which is what makes a great relatable character in my eyes.

Now, David. Ah, David Ferris. He is attractive and talented, but also moody and unpredictable but hey, he is a rock star after all! He also goes against the rock star image by having such a cute side to him that he brings out around Evelyn which is adorable to read. He's been hurt in the past so he's not a typical declare your love within the first 20 pages kinda leading man which I loved. I mean how old is that getting? I loved him but there was also moments, one in particular where I just wanted to hit him. He drove me a bit crazy so imagine how Evelyn felt.. yikes.

All said, this book is a great read. It's funny, fast paced, romantic and filled with interesting characters. I can't wait to read the others in the series which follow other members of the band. I'm particularly excited to read about Mal, he was hilarious in this book so a whole book focusing on him? YES PLEASE.
